Self Psychology - To Identify Yourself


Did you ever notice that our assignment is pending, and the submission date is tomorrow? We rush to our friends and collect notes or start searching for information regarding projects. We didn't bother it earlier, but now when the time is less, we are in a hurry, so this is human behavior or thinking.

In simple terms, psychology is a term for studying the human mind and behavior.

The significant aspect of psychology is to describe, explain, predict and improve human behavior. (James W. Psychology. H. Holt; 1892.)

What Is Self Psychology?

Self-psychology is to identify ourselves better and improve ourselves as individuals in all terms.

It helps to provide a clear and complete understanding of self-love and allows and has been seen as an essential part of development. (Wolf, E.S., 2002.)

Importance Of Self Psychology

To analyze yourself-

Many don't think and think because they are taught from childhood that you have to do this and not that.

E.g., if a child is forced and controlled by parents and family members, you have to gain good marks in exams or go to this college, or you have to take this field, etc.

So the child is grown up by this behavior in the family, and at a young age, he faces many problems.

So that's why we have to identify ourselves with what we think we have to do. We have to discover ourselves from good to better.

To develop our personality-

Self-psychology is all about self-love and the personal growth required in our environment. If we start getting to know that about ourselves, we can identify our flaws and strengths, and we can differentiate what is good and bad for us. We can improve our communication skills and be more confident and self-esteemed.

The quality which we get can improve our physical and social life.

To get rid of disorder and to be healthy-

As we live in a competitive world, we face many challenges and opportunities, and we face many health problems and disorders. The health problems we face are not known to us because we are sometimes unaware of them due to our busy schedules.

Due to our busy schedule, we are sleeping less, or due to workload, we cannot sleep, so we are facing one disorder: insomnia.

So to get rid of it, we can try self-psychology so we can identify the problem and figure out the solutions.

We think more-

The thinking power and brain functioning ability is increased, and we make a convenient decision for ourselves and respect other decisions and personal space.

So as we think more on any topic or subject, we get many ideas, and we become smarter unless we listen to others, we can follow our advice. We identify our capabilities of doing work.

Does True Self And False Self Exist?

True Self-

The true self is nothing but a moral self. It represents a self-based experience and feeling of being truly alive or present in that right moment. The true self is the one who lives their dreams.

We will relate our true self with a real-world example, as we know that to satisfy our needs and belongings, both the parents(mother and father) go to work to earn money for our needs.

So if our mother is going to work, she might be a passionate and hard-working lady in her workplace and spend time with the family. She might think that the job is something she wants to do, but their importance in family relationships is part of her true self.

False Self-

The person defending the outside face and its behavior is dependent on others and is controlled by others, and the person can feel empty inside.

The false self hides the true self of itself.

To describe more about the false self, we can use an example as a teenager working in an MNC company, but he doesn't like the work he is doing, and he is just pretending to his boss that he is happy with the result has been assigned.

What Is Self Psychology Therapy Or Self Therapy?

We come across many therapies regarding all health areas in today's world, but psychology therapy or self-therapy is defined as examining ourselves without consulting a therapist. It is self-based therapy an individual can go through. Self-therapy is recognizing the anxiety or depression you are dealing with, but if it is a serious one, consult a therapist or your concerned doctor.

It is the treatment of oneself facing one's emotional and personal problems, and it is a long-term process that identifies each issue.

Myths for doing self-therapy?

Think about your disorder-

First, try to recognize and think about what type of anxiety you are facing and do it when your mind is free from thoughts. You are not busy while doing it, so that's how you can identify the disease.

Understand more about your problem

If you have recognized your disorder, it depends on your understanding ability. How you take it, it might be the emotional or behavioral part. You should determine the problems or goals and how it impacts your life.

Study your feeling or behavior more closely

You have to do a deep study about your feelings and behavior, like how we are trying to copy others or we feel like avoiding ourselves from others.

Identify and explore self talk thoughts and beliefs

The thought process is continuously working in our human mind, so sometimes harmful thoughts arise in our minds. To remove this, we have to explore our thinking by sharing them with someone or standing in front of the mirror and questioning ourselves.

Challenge your irrational thoughts and replace them

Our mind is one part that we cannot control, so we have to avoid negative beliefs and replace them with positive ones in a reasonable tone.

How Does Self Therapy Help In Anxiety?

Self-therapy is the examination of ourselves. The research has shown that self-therapy has helped many people get rid of anxiety, stress, depression, etc. The disorder affects our personal, emotional, social life, etc.

The self-therapy that includes CBT(Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) has a vast effect on people facing health disorders.

CBT is the talk therapy based on connecting and managing the thoughts, feelings, and emotions

CBT is a long-term therapy process, and the strategies are used to help you get rid of negative thoughts. There are many different forms of CBT based on mental health.

If you want to try your own, here are some tips that I want to share with you.

You should change your ideas and way of thinking if you are dealing with many stressful thoughts that require a deep breath, and don't panic in any situation.

Balance the way of thinking, avoid negative thoughts, and try to push yourself to keep a good state of mind.

Be calm in a good presence of mind with yourself and imagine good things about the surroundings you are living in and be kind with yourself, trying to cope with thoughts that are not good for your mental health.

Do what you love and invest more time in work that you like or feel happy and excited about while doing it, be mindful and think about it while you are considering. Don't stretch out things too much. Try to give good output.

Terms Of Self Therapy In Depression?

The therapy mentioned above the same treatment is used to treat depression and all mental disorders.CBT is an effective way to get rid of depression.

The other ways are to try meditation and some physical exercise to keep our mind and body in good and well condition. You should also consult your therapists for your better will.

Self-psychology significantly impacts self-love, and in this competitive world, we need to examine ourselves and be free from every type of mental disorder. So try the tips which have been mentioned above and also consult your doctors to find good results.
